2024-2025 Elite 12 Announcement!

Calgary Synchronized Skating Club is excited to announce our 2024-2025 Elite 12 Auditions!

For skaters aged 17 (by July 1, 2024) and up, of ALL figure skating disciplines interested in a nationally and internationally competitive Elite 12 synchronized skating opportunity!

Skaters must have:

  • Gold level assessment in any discipline;
  • And/or competitive experience in any discipline;

Free Skate Program Details

Novice Synchronized Skating

 

Teams consist of 12 to16 skaters.

Age: Skaters must not have reached the age of 16 before July 1 preceding the competition

 

This competition consists of two parts: Free Program #1 and Free Program #2.  The same free program is skated in both parts.

The total score of Free Program #1 will be multiplied by a factor of 0.5 for the first Segment of the Event. The total score of Free Program #2 will be multiplied by a factor of 1.0 for the second Segment of the Event. A total score will be calculated by the combined score from Free Program #1 and #2.

A Free Skating Program to music of 3:00 minutes +/-10 seconds.

A well-balanced Novice Synchronized Skating program contains:

  • Intersection element with optional Point of Intersection
  • Move element
  • No hold element with optional step sequence
  • Pivoting element - block
  • Travelling element - circle
  • Twizzle element
  • Choice of one artistic element chosen from line or wheel

Intermediate (Gold) Synchronized Skating

 

Teams consist of 12 to16 skaters.

Age: Skaters must not have reached the age of 19 before July 1 preceding the competition.

 

This competition consists of two parts: Free Program #1 and Free Program #2.  The same free program is skated in both parts.

The total score of Free Program #1 will be multiplied by a factor of 0.5 for the first Segment of the Event. The total score of Free Program #2 will be multiplied by a factor of 1.0 for the second Segment of the Event. A total score will be calculated by the combined score from Free Program #1 and #2.

A Free Skating Program to music of 3:00 minutes +/-10 seconds.

A well-balanced Intermediate (Gold) Synchronized Skating program contains:

  • Intersection element with optional Point of Intersection
  • Move element
  • No hold element with optional step sequence
  • Pivoting element - block
  • Travelling element - circle
  • Twizzle element
  • Choice of one artistic element chosen from block, circle, line, or wheel
  • Synchronized spin element

Junior Synchronized Skating

 

Teams consist of 12 to 16 skaters.

Age: Must meet ISU Junior age criteria -skaters must have reached the age of 13 but must not have reached the age of 19 before July 1 preceding the competition.

A Short Program to music a maximum of 2:50 minutes in length containing the list of elements announced by the ISU for the current season:

  • Intersection element: triangle intersection; additional Point of Intersection is required
  • Move element: one field move executed by the entire team and must be the same field move, different feet are permitted.
  • No hold element*: Features are required and only features will be counted. Maximum sB will be called.
  • Pivoting element - block: must be executed in three lines
  • Twizzle element*: a series of two Twizzles, one in each rotational direction is required.

*The no hold element and the twizzle element may not be executed one after the other.

 

A Free Skating Program to music 3:30 minutes +/- 10 seconds.

A well-balanced Junior Synchronized Skating Free Skating Program contains:

  • Two different intersection elements: must be different, triangle intersection is not permitted. Additional Feature Point Of Intersection is optional and will be counted if executed correctly
  • Move element: up to four different fm's
  • No hold element: Additional Feature step sequence is required. Maximum NHEB will be called (features are not required).
  • Linear element - Line
  • Synchronized Spin element
  • Traveling element
  • Choice of one:
    • Move Element: maximum two different types of field moves are permitted OR
    • Pair Element

Senior Synchronized Skating

Teams consist of 16 skaters.

Age: Skaters must ave reached the age of 17 before July 1 preceding the competition.

A Short Program to music a maximum of 2:50 minutes in length.

Contains the list of elements announced by the ISU for the current season:

  • Intersection element: whip intersection; additional Point of Intersection is required
  • Move element: one field move executed by the entire team and must be the same field move, different feet are permitted.
  • No hold element*: Features are required and only features will be counted. Maximum sB will be called.
  • Choice of one of artistic element chosen from circle or wheel
  • Twizzle element*: a series of two Twizzles, one in each rotational direction is required.

*The no hold element and the twizzle element may not be executed one after the other.

A Free Skating Program to music 4:00 minutes +/- 10 seconds.

A well-balanced Senior Synchronized Skating Free Skating Program contains:

  • Creative element – group lift
  • Group lift element
  • Two different intersection elements: must be different, whip intersection is not permitted. Additional feature Point of Intersection is optional
  • Move element: maximum two different types of field moves are permitted
  • No hold element:  Features are required and only features will be counted. Maximum sB will be called
  • Pair element
  • Pivoting element - block
  • Synchronized spin element
  • Choice of one artistic element chosen from block, circle, line, or wheel, or mixed element

Elite 12 Synchronized Skating

Teams consist of 12 skaters.

Age: Skaters must have reached at least the age of 17 as of July 1 preceding the competition.

 

A Short Program to music a maximum of 2:50 minutes in length.

Contains the list of elements announced by the ISU for the current season:

  • Intersection element: angled intersection: Point Of Intersection is required
  • Move element: one fm executed by the entire team and must be the same fm, different feet are permitted
  • No hold element: Additional Feature step sequence is required. Maximum NHEB will be called (Features are not required)
  • Pivoting element – line: pivoting must be executed in two parallel lines
  • Travelling Element – only wheel is permitted. 3 spoke required, feature: two different element shapes is not permitted

A Free Skating Program to music 4:00 minutes +/- 10 seconds.

A well-balanced Senior Elite 12 Synchronized Skating Free Skating Program contains:

  • Creative element – group lift
  • Group lift element
  • Intersection element: Angled or whip intersection is not permitted Additional feature Point of Intersection is optional
